Who a Power Wheelchair Helps
A power wheelchair can be the right choice when walking or pushing a manual chair is no longer safe or practical — especially for getting around inside your own home. People often come to us when:
- Pushing a manual wheelchair causes pain, fatigue or shoulder strain
- A cane, walker or scooter no longer provides enough support
- A progressive condition such as MS, ALS, Parkinson’s or muscular dystrophy is changing what’s possible
- A spinal cord injury, stroke or amputation requires a new way to get around
- Tight hallways and doorways at home make a scooter hard to turn
Not sure? That’s exactly what a consultation is for. We’ll talk through your daily routine and recommend what actually fits — even if that isn’t a power chair.

Getting Your Power Wheelchair, Step by Step
- Free consultation. Call or send us a message. We’ll learn about your needs, your home and your insurance.
- Doctor visit & paperwork. Most insurance, including Medicare, requires a visit with your doctor and a written order. We coordinate with your doctor’s office so you don’t have to chase forms.
- Evaluation & home check. We look at how you’ll use the chair and make sure it fits through your doorways, bathroom and entrances. Complex chairs include a seating evaluation, often with your therapist.
- Insurance approval. We submit the documentation and keep you updated. Coverage and approval times vary by plan.
- Delivery & fitting. We deliver, adjust the chair to your body and teach you how to drive, charge and care for it.
- Ongoing service. Batteries, tires, motors and electronics — our local technicians keep you moving. Request a repair →

Power Wheelchair Questions
Does Medicare cover power wheelchairs?
Medicare Part B can cover a power wheelchair when your doctor documents that you need it to move around inside your home and a manual wheelchair or scooter won’t meet that need. You’ll typically pay a share of the cost after your deductible. Every case is different, so we’ll verify your coverage first.
What’s the difference between a power wheelchair and a scooter?
Scooters steer with a tiller and need good balance and upper-body strength. Power wheelchairs use a joystick, turn in tighter spaces and offer more support and seating options. For indoor use or longer-term needs, a power chair is often the better fit. Compare our scooters →
How long does it take to get a power wheelchair?
A private-pay standard chair can often be delivered quickly. Insurance-funded and custom chairs take longer because of doctor visits, evaluations and approvals. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at your consultation.
Do you repair power wheelchairs you didn’t sell?
In many cases, yes. Tell us the make, model and problem through our repair request form or give us a call, and we’ll let you know.
Can I try a power chair before deciding?
Yes. Schedule a showroom visit at 2620 Washington Avenue in Erie and we’ll have models ready for you to see and test.
